Emergency Medicine Anaesthetic And ICU

The Emergency Department (ED) and Intensive Care Unit (ICU) in Mount Meru  Hospital are critical components of acute care services

1. Emergency Medicine Department

The Emergency Medicine Department was established in 2018. It was among the first Emergency Medicine Departments to be established in the Regional Referral Hospitals (RRH). Since then, it has been a key Department in establishment of stability to the patients in the Hospital, attending up to 24000 patients per year.

Also due to the nature of Arusha region, this department has been main organ in dealing with major disaster incidences and mass casualties which occur within Arusha and the surrounding regions in the Northen zone.

The Department is divided into two main units which are Resuscitation rooms and Treatment rooms, where patients who are being triaged as Emergency will be attended in the resuscitation rooms and those who are being triaged as Priority or Cue, they will be attended in the treatment rooms.

2. INTENSIVE CARE UNIT SERVICES

The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) plays a pivotal role in ensuring the continuity of care for critically ill patients. At Mount Meru hospital, we operate an adult ICU that received accreditation from the Ministry of Health and National Insurance Fund in 2022. Our ICU comprises eight beds equipped with cutting-edge medical technology.

The ICU is managed by highly qualified medical professionals, including doctors and nurses who possess specialized skills such as Advanced Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS).
