ARUSHA REGIONAL COMMISSIONER DELIGHTED WITH HEALTH PROJECTS AT MOUNT MERU HOSPITAL

The Arusha Regional Commissioner, Hon. Kenan Kihongosi, has visited health projects being implemented at the Arusha Regional Referral Hospital – Mount Meru – through a partnership between development stakeholders and the Government. The projects include the construction of a cancer treatment building and a safe blood bank facility. He expressed satisfaction with the progress of these projects.

Speaking during his visit to the safe blood bank construction site, he said that once completed, the facility will help save the lives of residents of Arusha Region and surrounding areas, reduce medical and travel costs, and cut accommodation expenses for those who previously had to seek blood services in Kilimanjaro Region.

Hon. Kenan also commended the stakeholders building the facility – members of the Rotary Club – for their great initiative in collaborating with the Government. He pledged that the Government and all its agencies would work together to ensure the project is completed quickly so that citizens can access the service on time.

“I highly commend the members of the Rotary Club for recognizing the importance of partnering with the Government to construct this major building, which will be used to save the lives of fellow Tanzanians facing blood shortage challenges,” said Kenan Kihongosi.

Regarding the cancer treatment building project, Hon. Kenan stated that once completed, it will help reduce treatment costs for residents, as diagnostic and treatment services will be available within Arusha Regional Referral Hospital instead of requiring patients to seek them outside the region.

He further noted that the completion of the cancer care facility will benefit generations to come by providing services to Arusha residents and will stand as a landmark contribution from development partners in the region, reflecting their commitment to giving back to the community from their business gains.

In conclusion, Hon. Kenan Kihongosi praised the staff of Mount Meru Hospital for their continued hard work and urged them to work with discipline and without fear.
