Mount Meru Hospital Conducts Internal Audit to Strengthen Quality of Health Services

Mount Meru Hospital has conducted an internal audit aimed at strengthening the quality of healthcare services while ensuring the availability of medicines and the proper use of health resources.

The Hospital Secretary and member of the Therapeutics and Medicines Committee, Ms. Angel Kimati, stated that the hospital operates in compliance with the Ministry of Health guidelines, which require that 50 percent of the hospital’s annual revenue be allocated to the procurement of medicines, medical supplies, and reagents. 

She explained that the committee regularly carries out internal audits to ensure that medicines are available and reach patients in accordance with established procedures and regulations.“This audit helps us ensure the availability of medicines, accountability in the use of resources, and that quality services reach the patient as intended,” said Ms. Kimati.

Meanwhile, the Pharmacist and Secretary of the Therapeutics and Medicines Committee, Mr. Agape Kusiruka, noted that the committee’s primary responsibility is to oversee the procurement of medicines and medical products to ensure they are delivered to beneficiaries on time. 

He added that the audit is intended to improve service delivery, ensure full availability of health commodities within the hospital, and reduce the burden on patients seeking medicines outside the facility.

The three-day internal audit was successfully completed, and the next phase involves preparing a comprehensive report with recommendations to be submitted to the relevant authorities for action
