MT. MERU REGIONAL REFERRAL HOSPITAL COMMENDED FOR COMMUNITY SERVICE

Mt. Meru Regional Referral Hospital in Arusha has received a certificate of appreciation from The Tanganyika Schools in recognition of its participation in a three-day free medical camp for breast and prostate cancer screening aimed at helping the local community.

Speaking during the presentation of the certificate and donations intended to improve health services, the representative of the schools, Mr. Peter Mangi, commended Mt. Meru Hospital for its commitment to serving the community and expressed pride in the achievement of attending to more than 50 residents during the camp.

“We came here to express our gratitude to Mt. Meru Hospital for your dedication during the three-day breast and prostate cancer screening camp held at our school. We are sincerely thankful for your support,” said Mr. Mangi.

On his part, Dr. Alex Ernest, the Medical Officer In-Charge of Mt. Meru Regional Referral Hospital, thanked the stakeholders for recognizing the hospital’s contribution to community welfare and pledged to continue the partnership in future initiatives. He further assured that the donations provided would be used for their intended purposes to enhance health services.

Meanwhile, Dr. Aisha Hashim Ramadhani, an Oncologist at the hospital, urged more stakeholders to support similar medical camps that give citizens the opportunity to check their health status. She noted that cases of cancer have been increasing, particularly among young people, compared to past years when the disease was more common among older adults.

Dr. Aisha emphasized that when cancer is detected early, it can be effectively managed, and she encouraged the public to take advantage of available screening services to safeguard their health.

In line with the ongoing efforts by the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania to improve access to quality healthcare services across the country, Mt. Meru Regional Referral Hospital continues to provide cancer screening and diagnostic services through its laboratories and specialized doctors.
